We spent our first night in Jackson Hole, Wyoming visiting Teton Village. We found out that there was a concert in the square and took the kids over to see what it was all about. We sat and watched the sun set over the Teton Mountains. There was snow on the peaks but as it was warm, Jeff and I sat and listened to the band and the kids splashed in the little stream that ran through the village, and an area of the square that had water sprinklers that shot out of the ground. It was a relaxing way to start our visit.
The next morning found us at the Snow King Ski Resort to take the kids horse back riding. Maura and Colin had never ridden before and were very excited. Our guide, Clay, was terrific with the kids and after a few instructions we set off.
The trail we rode actually went up the mountain and the view of Jackson and the Tetons was amazing.
Meghan finally got her wish to meet a movie star star – sort of. Shiloh, the horse that Jeff rode was in the movie, Tombstone, with Kurt Russell. Shiloh was not giving autographs, but did pose for a picture.
We all had a terrific time and now instead of a dog, my kids all want horses.
After our ride, we went to the Grand Teton National Park and had a picnic lunch at Jenny Lake. The lake was cool and nestled in the shadows of the Teton Mountains. the kids swam in the lake and Jeff and I took in the incredible view.
We finished the evening with a delicious dinner at the Sweetwater Restaurant in Jackson.
The following day, we went back to Teton Village and took the Arial Tram to the top of the peak, an amazing 10,000 feet above sea level to do some hiking and take in the views.
Because the peak was snow covered, the kids donned hats and mittens to throw snowballs, something we can’t usually do in July. We took the tram back down the mountain and had lunch at the base.
We returned to the campground where Jeff, Colin and Maura hung out while Meghan and I went into Jackson to get souvenirs and groceries. Jeff and the kids played in the stream and get read to leave the following morning.
Jackson Hole, Wyoming was an adorable little town and as we have been at almost every stop, we were sad to leave.

Love the pictures! You are doing a great job documenting your trip!
Hi – I have to stop starting my comments with WOW!, but this place was really pretty and so different from the canyons and hiking trails of the southwest – horseback riding and trams up the mountains! love it and I must say you guys look like naturals on those horses! Was Dad in the calvary or infantry? Jeff, I see you are back to the baseball cap! a true Philly guy – so far I like the look of the Northwest rather than the southwest, can’t wait to hear all about it in person – be careful of the heat as you approach the east – stock up on water – is is going over 100 this weekend here and the mid-west is even hotter! Maybe you want to extend your Jackson Hole stay! have fun and be safe! Love Mom
These are really great pictures! We really loved Jackson Hole, the Grand Tetons and Jenny Lake when we were out there a few years ago. The scenery is truly breathtaking. It must have been really neat to throw snowballs at the top of the mountain. I am glad to see you are still having such a great time.
The views are nothing short of spectacular! You and your kids are filling your bucket lists in a hurry. Love, Dad
AHHH… the thought of snow right now cools me off! What a neat part of the trip. Remember those snowballs as you head east 🙂 It is going to feel like 110 tomorrow, blah! Be safe and have fun!!
Looks like you guys had a great time in Wyoming. This pictures are spectacular. Snow balls in July, anything like Christmas in July? Anyway, the Heary kids can join Chloe in wanting a horse. Chloe wants to keep it in the attic….Hope the remainder of the trip goes well. See you in a week.
